Mid Year Check In

We are approaching the second half of 2021 and honestly, I feel like it’s flying by. In late December, I wrote out all of my intentions and goals for this year and started working on them as soon as the clock struck twelve on January 1. Literally. (I was creating my vision board.)

As with most chunks of time, things have changed. I’ve lost loved ones, gained a few pounds, and started my blog. While I’m still working and have accomplished some of my goals, I’ve pushed a few to the back burner. How about you?

It’s completely normal for life to interrupt our plans and for us to abandon them sometimes, but eventually, we have to get ourselves back on track. That’s why it’s so important to do check ins.

You’re going to need to take some notes on this one. Ready?

Checking in with yourself on the regular will not only hold you accountable, it will help you succeed. We are endlessly becoming who God created us to be, so let’s embrace the journey. Reflect on the past 6 months.

How are you?
How has 2021 been for you? are you happy with this answer?
How are your relationships? finances? diet? health and well being?
Where has your time and energy been going?
What good has happened? what bad? was it beyond your control?
What are you thankful for? why?
What goals have you accomplished?
What goals have you made progress with?
What have you learned so far?
Do you have any regrets? why?

While working through this list, take time to celebrate those small wins! I can’t stress this enough. They may not be the milestone you’re trying to reach, but they help you on your way there.

One. Step. Closer.

The best part about goals, is that they are not set in stone. We can change them or create a new one in their place at any time. Reestablish your goals for 2021. Think of what you want the next 6 months to be.

How do you want to feel at the end this year?
What do you want to accomplish?
What relationships do you need to fall back from?
Where do you want your time and energy to go towards?
What goals do you still want to work at, that you haven’t already?
What goals need to be scrapped altogether?
What do you need to keep doing? stop doing? start doing?
What can be done differently so you can get to where you want to be?
How will you hold yourself accountable?
How will this year set the tone for 2022?

It’s okay to choose a different method of accomplishing your goals if what you are currently doing isn’t working. That’s the beauty in trial and error.

Persevere.

Your mindset is going to play a huge roll in how well the next 6 months are going to go. If you are willing to be disciplined and focused on your goals, it’s likely that you will crush them. If you are sulking in negativity, fear, and doubt, you will be in the exact same position come December, or worse.

Get rid of distractions. Turn your attention to things that are going to make you better. Let your support system know what’s up, so they can hold you accountable too.

You cannot afford to be in the same position at the end of the year. While you procrastinate and make excuses, you hold yourself back. You also rob the world of your greatness. You have the potential to be all that you want to be.

The choice is yours.

No matter what, know that you can start here and now. It’s not too late to do what you said you’d do. To begin, again. As long as you’re breathing, there will always be time and room to grow. Here’s to the second-half of 2021! 🤎
