Becoming 24

Out of all the days in the year, my two favorite are New Year’s Day and my birthday.

And last week I got a chance to celebrate one of them… I turned 24!

There is nothing more refreshing than a blank page, a new chapter in my book of life, and I’m so excited to see what’s in store for the next 365.

But before we get too far into my 24th year, I want to take a moment to reflect on my 23rd.

4 LESSONS I LEARNED IN THE PAST YEAR

1. Not knowing is okay.

It’s okay to not know the answers to some of the bigger questions.

It’s okay to not keep up with the latest trends or celebrity drama.

It’s okay to not absorb every little thing the news throws my way.

And since accepting that, my life has been more at ease.

2. Rest often.

I’ve always known rest was important, but it wasn’t until I read The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer that I started being intentional about it.

I have to relax my body, mind, and soul if I want to show up as my best self in other areas of my life.

That looked like finding pockets of time in my day, as well as, blocking off a full 24 hours.

And the difference it has made in my life… *chef’s kiss*

3. Live intentionally.

This year, was my most intentional yet and I think it really boiled down to being disciplined.

I had to let go of certain things in order to get to where I am today.

I had to continuously choose what I value over everything else and it helped me become a respecter of time.

I often asked myself, “is this helping get to where I want to be? Is this adding or taking away from my life?”

What you do, makes up your life so fill it wisely.

4. I am Endlessly Becoming.

Like I stated in the last post, I’ve recently been struggling with showing up for myself.

It took me a while to realize it was because this is a new version of me.

And that led me to accepting it was going to take some time for me to learn what I need in this season.

I had to remind myself that there’s time and room to grow!

Because there is. 🕊

Here’s to year 24!
