3 Reminders for the Week Ahead

Happy Sunday yall!

I know I’m a little early.

Today, I just want to share some things that I’ve been working through/thinking on lately.

I hope you can get something out of this and be encouraged in the week ahead.

Write permission slips.

This past week I was about to ask a friend for advice on something.

I had already made up in my mind what I was going to do, but I just wanted them to tell what I wanted to hear.

*cringing at past me*

Now sometimes, it’s good to seek counsel when you simply don’t know what to do.

But other times, like when you’ve already decided to make the healthiest decision for you, you do not need to ask someone else for permission to carry it out.

You give yourself the permission.

After all, your life is your responsibility, not theirs.

Trust yourself, your intuition, and stand firm in all of your decisions.

God is good.

I’m learning to accept that God is good, period.

Since childhood, we’ve all been fantasizing what we want our lives to look like.

From traveling the world, to landing a good job, to buying a house, to starting a family.

But the question that’s come up for me is, what if some of the things we’ve always dreamed of never happen?

Will we be disappointed (initially)? Yes.

Does that change who he is, how much he loves us? No.

God’s still going to be good regardless of what he does/doesn’t do.

Time is the currency of life.

Be intentional with it.

And I know I preach this a lot (mainly for myself), but if I can be honest for a minute… I’ve been slacking.

It’s crazy because on one hand, I’m the most disciplined with my time than I’ve ever been.

On the other, I can tell I’ve been getting lax and slipping back into some of my old ways.

So, this is just a reminder that time is the most valuable thing we have.

Everyone has 24 hours. Make the most of it.

Within that time, your decisions either add to or take away from your life.

Do things to set your future self up for success.

Complete the tasks you don’t want to do, but need to do, first.

Make time for the people you care about.

And be present with them.

Everything has meaning.

You never know which interaction will be the last.

I know that’s something that’s easy to forget, but we only have this moment.

Tomorrow isn’t promised.

My grandma always told me:

don’t let life slip away from you or it will.

So grab hold of it and create something beautiful–a life worth living.

Endlessly,

Chan 🕊
