Strength on Sundays is a series where I share inspiration for the week ahead. You can look for these posts on the second Sunday of each month. 🤎
The theme for this week is:
Perseverance is the steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. In other words, doing whatever it takes to reach your goals.
Difficult moments in life are inevitable, but for some reason, we hope that things will always run smoothly for us.
It’s during these times that our patience is tested, everything and everyone seems to be against us, and eventually we start to wonder, what’s the point?
If you’ve been wanting to throw in the towel or if you’re just looking for a little encouragement…
Sit with these this week:
JAMES 1:2- 5.
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
Read that again. We should delight in hard times. This gives us a chance to trust God more than we’ve ever had to.
Just keep swimming?
While I think it’s important to follow through with tasks (difficult or not), I think it’s just as important to know when to stop. Give yourself permission to change course if something (or someone) is no longer serving you.
Romans 5:3- 4.
3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Our suffering shapes us. Keep who you want to become in mind.
Choose your hard.
With every choice we make, there will be something hard about it. Choose which hard is going to put you closer to your goal. You have to decide how much it’s worth to you.
12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
What will you do while you wait? Find the joy, make room for what you’re going after, and stay prayed up. The middle is crucial and God will be with you every step of the way.
Can’t Give Up Now.
Yall remember this classic, right? This song reminds me to celebrate how far I’ve come and motivates me to keep going. Another tip I have is to feed yourself wholesome things. If listening to your favorite motivational song fifty-leven times is going to help you succeed, go for it.
Put your goals where you can see them.
When you get discouraged, you need to have something to look at that will bring you back into the game. Having your goals where you can see them will serve as a reminder to persevere. Make it your screensaver on all of your devices, post it on a mirror, or even on your nightstand. Don’t lose sight of your end goal.
While you are pushing through, you are also becoming resilient. Know that God is with you through it all. Win this week!
